Here we are, Saturday afternoon. What happened? We made it to the end of the week and the boy tired us out.
We had a really good start to the day. We went looking for a Discount Diaper shop but had no luck in finding the place,(in my defence I was given the wrong adress) so Ella has gone today to stock up. Don't worry eco-friends we are still using cloth but in this hot weather Fin has developed a bit of diaper rash for the first time. The doctor suggested using disposables when it is hot out as they wick better. We are getting unbleached and ones made from recycled material, so still trying to do our part. You have to be a tree hugging, granola eating hippy when you live on the North Shore.
We then stopped in to look at an antiques store to look at the pretty things and then onto the mall to pick up a pair of trousers for Ella. By this time Fin was getting hungry. He drained a bottle of milk and was still fussing. So we made it home and had lunch. I'm certainly getting more confortable taking him out. Me with just diaper bag in tow, as opposed to the first time we went over to Granny and Granda's were we went with diaper bag, seperate bag for meals and bottle, another for toys and his chair. It is also nice getting all the compliments and smiles from everyone, as he is such a charming character. When we picked up Ellas trousers the sales ladies even commented on his wardrobe. That is something his dad is not used to hearing ;)
After lunch we got a fair bit of laundry done, then Fin decided he had had enough and had a melt down. After about half an hour Dad developed a headache and realized he had made it through most of the day without eating himself. So it was a late lunch for dad and Fin had his third meal of the day when Mum came home. She get her usual warm welcome, and then it was back to the fussing. I think he was still suffering the effect of the immunisation shots and his gums are hurting. You can just see the white knubs of teeth just trying to poke through on his middle lower gums.
It was early to bed for Mum and Fin. Dad went to the shops (yes that hiddious, hell hole that is RCS) and picked up a few things for tonights barbeque. Dad got an early night for him. I think Ella and I both had visions of getting up early to get on with things but not quite as early as Fin thought was appropraite. He woke up at 5:30 and didn't drop back off until almost gone eight. For the most part he was fine, quite happy to be awake, chatting quite loudly to himself, which I must admit does make us chuckle. Then as he became more tired, he became more demanding. Not happy to lye in his crib, he wanted to share his vitality. Arms flying and thumping mum and dad. Pulling his Mummys hair. Baldness does have a couple of advantages, think of the money I save on haircuts and shampoo. So when he finally dropped off, we all had a bit of a lye in.
Now I must run and start my errands before Ella and the little one get back from doing their half of the list.
